To encourage institutional deliveries under ‘Amma Lalana’ programme, the District Medical and Health Department has decided to rope in the services of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers to motivate the rural womenfolk to avail themselves of the medical services, including the safe deliveries, in government hospitals.

DM&HO Nageshwara Rao said that each ASHA worker should ensure at least one delivery in the government hospital every month.

Dr. Nageshwara Rao also announced an incentive of Rs. 150 for each delivery. He said that they would motivate all the 2790 ASHA workers to encourage institutional deliveries in the district, according to a press note here on Monday.

The DM&HO said that the involvement of ANMs had increased the number of deliveries in government hospitals considerably.
