It was bonhomie and old memories at Millennium Gardens here late Thursday evening. Old school ‘boys' of the first Anglican school set up in the city, St. George's Grammar School in Abids got together for their first multi-batch alumni meeting.

In attendance were some students who attended classes at St. George's way back in 1944. One former student even came dressed in the school uniform. The former students exchanged pleasantries, cracked jokes, posed for photographs and recollected memories of their school.

Established in 1834 by the Church of England to cater to the educational needs of the children of the British community serving the government in Hyderabad, it is currently administered by the Church of South India Diocese of Medak.

Its alumni includes Sarojini Naidu, India's first astronaut in space Rakesh Sharma, actors Suresh Oberoi and J.D. Chakravarthy, film maker Nagesh Kukunoor, cricket all-rounder Abid Ali, Justice Pingle Jagan Mohan Reddy among others.
