HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president, N. Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to release funds for repairs to Tatapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme and help farmers of 16 villages and save the lives of two farmers who are on indefinite fast.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Naidu referred to the agitation launched by the all party committee and farmers of Kapileswaram and K. Gangavaram mandals in Ramachandrapuram Assembly constituency in East Godavari district.

Two farmers, Namala Achyutaramayya and Alluri Ramakrishna Chowdary were on indefinite fast and their health was deteriorating.

Provision of funds

The agitation was for demanding immediate provision of funds for carrying out repairs to the pumping system which has become defunct affecting supply of water to 10,000 acres in 16 villages of two mandals.

After the issue was raised in the East Godavari zilla parishad meeting, the District Collector forwarded a Rs. 75.50 lakh proposal to the Government but there was no response.
