VISAKHAPATNAM: MPTC of Balapam Gaddada Chittanna Dora alias Chittibabu, who was reported to have been shot dead by Maoists at Korukonda village on Saturday night, is alive. Reporters from Chintapalli who have gone to Korukonda on Sunday morning found him alive. He reached Chintapalli in the afternoon and announced he was resigning as MPTC and also from the CPI.. Who had spread the rumour about his death is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, the CPI termed as inappropriate the CPI (Maoist)'s demand that elected representatives of all political parties quit their posts in protest against Bauxite mining in Visakhapatnam district. In a statement, CPI State secretary K. Narayana said killing of Communists and tribals who were agitating against the mining activity was not in the interests of the ongoing movement and the Maoists too should realise the fact.
