HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam has appealed to the Justice Srikrishna Committee not to trust the claims by parties favouring separate Telangana about injustice done to the region while the CPI reiterated its stand on peaceful parting of ways between people of Andhra and Telangana.
The PR made a strong pitch before the committee at the Lake View Guest House here on Thursday for continuing a united State on the ground that a larger State had several advantages compared to smaller ones. In sharp contrast, the CPI wanted the committee to consider the gravity of the situation where the people were thoroughly divided and “it is neither acceptable nor possible to live together any more”.
In its hour-long interaction with the committee, the PR alleged that the TRS was trying to distort facts and hoodwink people in the name of discrimination against Telangana. PR president K. Chiranjeevi later said the party had furnished a detailed factual picture on this score while CPI State secretary K. Narayana said the party insisted on “a political solution once and for all”.
Mr. Chiranjeevi, accompanied by senior party leaders including C. Ramachandraiah and K. Vidyadhara Rao, explained to the panel the ‘ill-effects' of bifurcation that was bound to create new problems for the people. The PR said there was no basis in the argument of those seeking a separate State and that the PR made a convincing presentation on the facts.
