HYDERABAD: The Telangana Martyrs Day Committee on Sunday organised a ‘prayer meeting' at Martyr's Memorial at Secunderabad Clock Tower Garden to mark the 41 {+s} {+t} anniversary of the first police firing on April 4, 1969, during the separate Telangana agitation. Four students were killed in police action on that day.

The committee, headed by veteran P. J. Suri, organises prayer meetings every year to remember the sacrifices made by over 350 persons who were killed during the agitation.

He said that today's event was a low-key affair, as police wanted it to be confined only to the garden. As a result, many veterans of the movement could not attend. Among those who paid floral tributes to the martyrs were Keshav Rao Jadav, Pasham Yadagiri, Ch. Balkishan Rao and K.N. Ramdas. Several participating in the 1969 agitation organised ‘annadanam' at the venue.
