HYDERABAD: A separate Directorate headquartered in Hyderabad with engineering and forestry wings will be established to implement ‘YSR Smruti Vanam,' a project to construct a memorial for Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at the site of helicopter crash in which he died in Kurnool district.

A proposal to set up the exclusive Directorate for this purpose was approved by the State Cabinet at its meeting here on Tuesday. The Directorate will have 33 officers and supporting staff who will oversee the execution of the project, the cost of which has been estimated at Rs 13 crore. The project, which will come up in the Velugodu reserve forest in Kurnool district, will be completed in three years.

Another important decision taken by the Cabinet was to constitute special purpose vehicles (SPV) to implement the Bus Rapid Transit Systems for Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam cities.
