HYDERABAD: A diploma student died by hanging in her room at Chaitanyapuri on Sunday after her parents allegedly admonished her for failing in two subjects.

Police said Sheetal, 18, hailing from Nanded in Maharashtra, was pursuing diploma in Special Education (D.Ed) at Thakur Hari Prasad Institute for Mentally Retarded Persons at V.V. Nagar in Chaitanyapuri. She was staying in a rented house along with two other girls. She called up her parents on Saturday requesting them to send money for repaying the money she had borrowed from her friend.

But they rebuked her for spending money carelessly and poor performance in studies. Since then Sheetal was in a state of depression. On Sunday morning, she was not responding to her friends' calls when they repeatedly knocked the door after returning from a temple.

Sensing something suspicious, they peeped through the window and found her hanging with a ‘chunni.' With the help of neighbours, they broke open the door and rushed Sheetal to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
