VISAKHAPATNAM: The city police have formed a special party on Friday to apprehend the owner of a theatre in the city and his son for allegedly harassing women.
Announcing this at a media conference on Friday, Police Commissioner N. Sambasiva Rao said that they now have evidence against the accused Jagadish and his father Rambabu. A second victim Sandhya complained that Jagadish had ditched her six months after marrying her. “We have asked her to submit the evidence she had with her,” he stated.
He said that Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy has taken a serious note and was reviewing the case. He said that cases have been booked against both the accused under Sections 498 A (women harassment), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (intimidation) of the IPC. “We are ready to alter or add more Sections, if the gravity of the case turns out to be more,” he said.
The role of the middleman in arranging the marriage of the girls with the accused, and whether the accused had divorced his first wife before marrying the second was also being probed.
He said that a third woman was also preferring a complaint against the accused.
