Kakinada: District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi felicitated the children of Young Men’s Happy Club who won silver Nandi for their play ‘Vijayadasami’ during the ‘Nandi Natakotsavam’ at Khammam, at his camp office here on Wednesday. He also expressed happiness that three Nandi prizes were won by artistes from the district in the best actor, best writer and best director categories among the children.
On the occasion, Mr. Dwivedi said it was a matter of pride for the district to win prizes in the prestigious event. Vijayadasami was a play that depicted the travails of child labourers and the credit of winning Nandi prizes goes to the parents who managed to get their children educated while themselves toiling as daily wage workers.
‘Best child actor’ A Kanaka Mahalakshmi, who is studying 10th class as a private student, said it was a privilege to win recognition in the Nandi Natakotsavam. District Cultural Council convener V. Ramanjaneyulu and others were present.
