Glowing tributes paid to freedom fighters; patriotic songs rent the air

HYDERABAD: Patriotic fervour marked the 61st Republic Day celebrations by several State and Central public sector undertakings here on Tuesday.

M. Satyanarayana Rao, APSRTC chairman, hoisted the tricolour, urging the employees to work with more commitment for improved performance. B. Prasada Rao, vice-chairman and MD, several executive directors and officials attended.

Prizes given away

Justice G. Yethirajulu, chairman, AP Administrative Tribunal, gave away prizes to winners of games conducted among the staff to mark the day. R. Dilip Reddy, AP Information Commissioner, stressed the importance of protecting the environment and shunning use of plastic/polythene bags by people voluntarily. AP Central Power Distribution Company Limited Chairman and MD G. Sai Prasad exhorted the staff to be responsive to people’s needs with better services. Senior officials and employees attended.

ECIL Chairman and MD Y.S. Mayya inspected a guard of honour presented by a CISF contingent.

P. Krishnan, BHEL in-charge GM (Corporate R&D), congratulated the employees for their achievements. He stressed the importance of excellence and achieving self-reliance.

The Telangana Swatantra Senani Samiti and Freedom Fighters’ Forum for Social Justice celebrated the day at Martyrs Memorial, Koti. Justice G. Chandraiah of the High Court hoisted the flag and joined Babu Rao Verma, president, in paying glowing tributes to freedom fighters.

The day was celebrated with zeal and nationalistic fervour by the officers and staff of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board on Tuesday.

Appreciation letters

Hyderabad Collector Navin Mittal hoisted the national flag at Hyderabad Collectorate. On the occasion, he presented appreciation letters to 20 officials for their commitment in their work.

Joint Collector Durga Das, DRO Madanmohan Rao and RDOs Chandrasekhara Reddy and Lakshmi were among present.

Ranga Reddy Collector M. Danakishore hoisted the flag at VM Home and inspected the parade of police and NCC cadets.

BRAOU Vice-Chancellor O.R. Reddy hoisted the flag at the university premises. GHMC celebrated the day with Mayor B. Karthika Chandra Reddy hoisting the national flag. Commissioner Sameer Sharma, corporators, senior officers and others attended.
