Says threats of un-parliamentary nature directed at sympathisers of unified State will not be tolerated

JAC leaders discuss future strategies to revive activities

To organise farmers’ convention at Challapalli today

VIJAYAWADA: Leaders of the Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee (JAC) have come down heavily on their pro-bifurcation counterparts, saying that any threats of comments that are of an un-parliamentary nature directed at the sympathisers and supporters of unified Andhra Pradesh will not be tolerated in future.

The JAC leaders have taken strong objection to the remarks made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and anti-integration leaders against Congress MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi.

Freedom of expression

They have advised the separatist leaders to open their eyes and see that a citizen born on this soil has freedom of expression anywhere in this vast country and there is no meaning in trying to curtail this freedom within a State.

The JAC leaders held a meeting on Sunday to discuss their future strategies to revive activities in the wake of a rising outcry from the pro-bifurcation leaders in the recent past. They used the occasion to send out a warning that use of threats and fear would prove counter-productive ultimately and the leaders involved in any agitation should understand this.

Those who attended the JAC meeting included MLAs Devineni Umamaheswara Rao (TDP) and Malladi Vishnu (Congress), former minister Mandali Buddha Prasad, Congress leader and Jalayagna Sadhana Samithi founder Kolanukonda Sivaji, Samatha Party leader V.V. Krishna Rao and others.

The speakers made a dig at the separatist leaders, taking strong objection to the threat issued to Mr. Kavuri Sambasiva Rao warning him against entering “their region” to avoid attacks by the followers of bifurcation.

The JAC leaders also deplored that the separatist leaders threatened to see the end of the senior Congress leader if he dared to continue his active support for unified AP cause.

The Samaikyandhra leaders said that a person of a tall stature like Mr. Chiranjeevi would not stand to lose anything just because some vested interests made damaging remarks against him. They pointed out that the Shiva Sena in Maharashtra tried to do a lot of damage to a great actor like Amitabh Bachchan, but the latter emerged unscathed and ever more stronger with greater success in many fields.

The JAC decided to keep the spirit of Samaikyandhra agitation alive by organising and continuing their activities.

As part of this, they are going to organise a farmers’ convention at Challapalli on Monday at 3 p.m.
