KADAPA: Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Viswanatha Reddy on Friday exhorted vehicle drivers to follow traffic safety guidelines and not to use cargo vehicles to carry passengers and pay taxes promptly.
Speaking after launching Mahindra and Mahindra’s “Gio”, India’s first compact truck, at Sri Vijayadurga Auto Service here, Mr. Reddy said violators of traffic rules would suffer loss of accidental and insurance benefits if they violate rules and put the vehicles to unauthorised use and meet with accidents.
Another motor vehicle inspector Varaprasad advised drivers to follow traffic safety rules and ensure their safety as well as that of passersby.
Deputy Manager (Sales) of Mahindra and Mahindra Kumar Raja said, Gio compact truck is priced at Rs. 1.68 lakh and it is the first compact four-wheeler truck in the half-a-tonne capacity segment, having Kohler 9.1 BHP US engine, front suspensions, rolling windows and steering with seating capacity for two persons.
Sri Durga Automotives founder S. Mallikarjuna Rao and his son K. Durgaprasada Rao handed over ten Gio trucks to customers, including the first one to S. Hari Obul Reddy of Viswanathapuram in Chapadu mandal.
Head of Marketing of Sri Durga Automorives Karthik and Manager (three-wheelers) Ramesh participated.
