VIJAYAWADA: The Communist Party of India (CPI), as part of a State-wide campaign, will conduct various programmes to motivate people to agitate for the resolution of the problems they are facing.
City secretary of the party and former legislator K. Subba Raju, addressing a press conference here on Thursday, said that the party activists will conduct meetings and take out rallies to highlight the problems the public were facing and demand the State government to resolve them.
All of a sudden, the government had increased the burden on the common man in various ways. Along with the increase in prices in general there was an increase in RTC fares, VAT, motor vehicle tax and user charges of various kinds. The people were being harassed by the Municipal Corporation that was trying to fix water meters for the drinking water connections. The registration of house pattas and the proper implementation of G.O.166 had become an uphill task for the people.
The people living below the poverty line were facing problems with improper distribution of essential commodities, reduction of quotas and the scrapping of ration cards, he said.
