HYDERABAD: National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), in association with Healthy You Foundation (HYF), is organising a national conclave on ‘Defining Healthy Packaged Foods and Beverages’ on January 18 at NIN, Hyderabad. The objective of the conclave is to invite stakeholders to deliberate on the existing regulations on food safety and standards and to come up with a common minimum standard on healthy foods in India, a press release said.
Production, sale and consumption of pre-packaged foods have witnessed a major surge in the recent years in India and hence, there is need to create a supportive environment and help consumers zero in on healthy foods among the plethora of existing packaged foods in the market, release added.
The conclave also aims at launching the initiative by involving the stakeholders in a collaborative manner and make it a self-sustainable model-based on trust and partnership. Nearly 100 experts from various government organisations, food industries, and regulators from different parts of the country will be participating in the conclave.
