HYDERABAD: An unusual spectacle of officials and other employees using pencils in place of pens was witnessed in several sections of the Secretariat on Wednesday when they launched a two-day pen-down strike, demanding the government to accept the Pay Revision Commission report and allow 61 per cent hike in pay-scales. The employees abstained from writing anything beyond signing the attendance registers. Instead, they remained glued to the chairs without disposing of files although the trays on their tables contained bundles. Some officers resorted to using pencils to mark the files and write notes on them.

P. Rajkumar Gupta, leader of the Coordination Committee Secretariat Employees which is among a dozen organisations affiliated to the JAC of Employees, Teachers and Workers, said the pen-down stir was successful.
