To pursue MBA in Manav Rachna International University

HYDERABAD: Ace shooter Gagan Narang, who holds the world record in 10 m air rifle, has shifted base to Delhi to join the Manav Rachna International University in Faridabad and to practise for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in which he is aiming for the gold.

The University has already felicitated the champion shooter on winning a ‘golden double’ in the recently-held Asian championship in Doha, having won the World Cup gold early this year in Korea. Mr. Narang thanked the University for giving him a chance to realise his childhood dream to be a MBA graduate. “The sporting atmosphere helped me in opting for the university” he said.

The Indian Airlines officer feels that an MBA would give provide him an alternate career once the sporting career comes to an end.

“I honestly believe that even while pursuing professional sports, a sense of understanding of economics should help one to manage oneself better,” Gagan explains. In a message, Dr. O. P. Bhalla, Chancellor of MRIU, said: “We feel very proud to know that a world level shooter like Gagan Narang will be studying in our institution and this will certainly motivate other students to take up sports.”

The other shooter on the university rolls was Shweta Chowdry. Interestingly, MRIU also launched the rifle club and declared the range open by Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra.
