Kakinada: The issue of identity cards to farmers in Rythu bazars is set to commence after January 10, which has been fixed as the last date for submitting applications to the respective estate officers. Existing card-holders have also to make fresh applications before that date.
Application forms are available in 12 Rythu bazars in the district, according to Joint Collector K Sasidhar. Farmers having own land have to attach a copy of the pattadar passbook or title deed to the applications while the tenant farmers need to get the verifications done by Revenue officials.
The identity cards were intended to eliminate middlemen and other unscrupulous traders, who exploit the farmers who can henceforth directly sell their produce in Rythu bazars without the involvement of any other person.
