The Department of Culture will organise Telugu ‘bhasha dinostavam' (language day) on August 29 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthy, who championed the cause of modern Telugu language. R.V. Ramana Murthy, chairman, AP State Cultural Council, said in a press release on Wednesday that at the function to be held in Ravindra Bharati, eminent writers Bh. Krishnamurthy and Ch. Rama Rao would be felicitated for their services to Telugu. Each would be given Rs.2,000 as cash award, besides a memento. –Special Correspondent
