The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) has approved the proposals to develop Dal Mill area slum under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) programme.
The CSMC sanctioned Rs. 20.13 crore for the project, which would be taken up as pilot project in the city. Municipal Commissioner Md. Abdul Azeem, Chief Engineer Kondal Rao and SE Moses attended the CSMC meeting at New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), initially, planned to develop 110 slums in the city under RAY. The Corporation has estimated that it would require Rs. 2,233 crore to provide basic facilities and infrastructure in the slums.
The project report was prepared accordingly. The VMC has planned to construct 49,000 houses under the RAY.
The Corporation plans to construct houses at Dal Mill area slum in G plus three mode.
