Kakinada: BJP national council member K Haribabu on Friday said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had failed on all fronts and the situation reached such a pause that the country had no full-time Finance Minister who would steer the troubled economy clear from global crisis.
The UPA had spoken a lot in the last four-and-a-half years but it could not follow up its rhetoric in deeds, which was quite glaring from the various lapses for which the country paid a heavy price, especially with regard to cross-border terrorism and inflation.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Haribabu said the UPA Government brought back the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) described by itself as a draconian legislation, in the form of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act which contained equally harsh provisions aimed at meting deterrent punishments to terrorists. Unfortunately, the reality did not dawn on UPA till the terrorists virtually bled Mumbai by their indiscriminate killings, he said.
BJP leaders K Satyanarayana, P Krishna Mohan, Sanyasi Rao and Malakondaiah were present.
