GHMC blames HMWSSB for
the state of the Oliphant bridge road
HYDERABAD: The GHMC on Thursday began patch work repair on the Oliphant bridge road following a report in these columns highlighting the problems motorists and pedestrians were facing.
However, the corporation put the entire blame on the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) pointing out that the road surface was getting damaged periodically due to a faulty sewer line.
Reacting to the news item, GHMC Executive Engineer K. Jaya Prakash said that laying a new sewerage at Oliphant Bridge was the only solution to stop overflowing drainage water and prevent road damage.
He maintained that the board was alerted about overflowing drains several times orally and in writing also to start the repair works immediately. However, the board had not responded at all.
