Several Dalit associations and representatives of Left parties on Sunday alleged that Ministers Kondru Muralimohan and Botcha Satyanarayana should be held responsible for the Lakshmipet violence since they instigated dominant sections to suppress the weaker sections which were fighting for the rights over the 275 acres of land which was originally alienated for the Madduvalasa reservoir.
A crucial meeting was organised in Rajam on Sunday to discuss caste, class and issues related to land. CPI(ML New Democracy) Central Committee Member Y.Sambasiva Rao and State Committee member J.V. Chalapati Rao said Mr. Kondrumurali failed to protect the interests of weaker sections though he has hailed from the Scheduled Castes community.
They also said PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and Vizianagaram MP Botcha Jhansi extended the support to the dominant section and prevented arrests after the killing of four Dalits on July 12.
“Cases should be booked against the Ministers and others who are indirectly connected to the issue. An inquiry should be ordered with sitting High Court judge to ensure speedy justice to the victims’ families which are still worried about fresh violence in the village,” said Y.Sambasiva Rao. Representatives of various associations urged the Dalits to join hands together to prevent atrocities on weaker sections of the society.
They said dominant sections would not dare to attack Dalits if the government would take the Lakshmipet incident seriously.
