Jagapati is worried about losing out in seat sharing if he remains in TDP

Not given a chance in last elections, he expressed his displeasure to Naidu

SANGAREDDY: With the impact of the grand alliance, as it is viewed, the opposition Telugu Desam Party reportedly lost a strong leader Batti Jagapati to the newly formed Praja Rajyam party.

He was at Hyderabad on Wednesday to meet Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi to seek an appointment for joining the party.

A two-time district president of the TDP and two-time Municipal Chairman of Medak, Mr. Jagapati had been with the party for long.

Though he tried for party nomination in the previous elections also, he could not succeed. He expressed his displeasure in a recent meeting with party president N. Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad. Like many other leaders in the TDP, Mr. Jagapati was also worried about his political future in the event of the party not getting Medak Assembly segment in the seat sharing among the alliance partners, and his chance of getting ticket even if the seat was spared for the party.

Praja Rajyam district convener P. Narayana reportedly played his role in roping in Mr. Jagapati. With this, the PR would not only be getting a strong leader but could also present a known face in the elections. However, Mr. Jagapati did not confirm his joining the PR stating: “I am yet to meet Mr. Chiranjeevi and discuss the issue.”
