HYDERABAD: Newly appointed permanent invitee to Congress Working Committee (CWC) K. Keshava Rao has charged that the Grand alliance partners had given a ‘decent burial to the public issues’ and instead started targeting individuals in the State.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday after his recent appointment, Dr. Rao said as the elections were round the corner, people expected major political parties to concentrate on the public issues. “What we have seen in the last few days is the opposition parties trying to target Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and Sakshi Telugu daily.” Having run short of ideas and programmes, the TDP, Left parties and the TRS, hoped to gain political mileage by levelling unfounded charges against the Chief Minister, he said.

On the proposed committee to study Telangana, he said the initiative is taken to gave sanctity to the statehood issue. The suggestions coming from the panel would immensely benefit the cause of Telangana, he said.

He said separate state was possible only if the UPA or NDA took initiative. “But, in the present scenario, it is next to impossible for the NDA to come back to power. Hence, the UPA will take positive decision in favour of Telangana at the right time,” he remarked.
