HYDERABAD: In a pre-poll sop of sorts, the State government has reduced the development charges of areas lying in city outskirts and falling under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits by a whopping 75 per cent on Monday.
There was a long pending demand for reduction of development charges in far-flung areas from various quarters, including the builders and developers.
Recently, the HMDA had reported to the government that there were several representations for reduction of the charges on the ground that they were on the higher side and the pace of development was slow. The HMDA had also requested the government to reduce the development charges by 50 per cent for areas lying in city outskirts. After careful consideration of the recommendations, the government decided to reduce the charges by 75 per cent.
