HYDERABAD: Ninety two patients from economically disadvantaged sections underwent complex disability surgeries in the free three-day camp organised by Aakar Asha Trust in association with Apollo Health City here from February 13 to 15.

Bharatendu Swain, a consultant plastic and cosmetic surgeon in Apollo Health City, had set up the trust eight years ago to help poor, disabled persons undergo specialised surgery to improve their condition and lead a near normal life.

Some 260 patients from Warangal, Adilabad, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and GHMC area were screened with the help of Aasara wing of the GHMC. A team of reputed specialists from the UK and US, Alok Mishra, Sukhbir Singh Rayatt and Anne Dancey, UK, and Philip Gutek besides Dr.Swain performed surgeries. The surgeries performed included cleft lip and palate correction, burn contractions of the face, neck and limbs, birth deformities.
