HYDERABAD: The crucial two-day Collectors’ conference beginning here on Monday will deliberate on the need for strengthening the delivery mechanism of welfare/development programmes.
To be chaired by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, it may probably be the last before the election schedule.
It is expected to take an in-depth look at the implementation of the welfare/development programmes and is likely to set deadlines for the on-going projects and those contemplated in larger public interest.
The conference has been convened to review implementation of welfare/development schemes and to enthuse the administration to complete ongoing programmes as scheduled.
A press release from the Chief Minister’s Office said Dr. Reddy, who is touring Chittoor and Kadapa districts, reviewed the arrangements for the conference with officials over teleconference.
More welfare measures
“With more programmes in the pipeline for larger public good, the Chief Minister is particular that an efficient delivery mechanism was the key to ensure the benefits of the programmes reach beneficiaries at the grassroots level,” the release said.
Stiff targets would be set for the Collectors with fixed time frame for their implementation.
