KARIMNAGAR: Chief Executive Officer (Rythu Bazaars) Venkateshwar Rao has called upon the authorities concerned to take the necessary measures for closely monitoring the functioning of the rythu bazaars in the respective districts.

The Rythu Bazaar CEO visited Karimnagar town on Saturday and inspected the weekly market area and Kashmirgadda.

He expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the rythu bazaar at the Kashmirgadda. However, he said, that there was only 20 per cent occupation of the model rythu bazaar at weekly market area in the town.

Review of functioning

Talking to The Hindu, he said that the district administration should also review the functioning of rythu bazaars and take measures for benefiting the farmers and the consumers at large.

He said that there should be frequent coordination committee meetings by Collectors or Joint Collectors to review the problems faced by the farmers and consumers at the rythu bazaars and strengthen the existing rythu bazaars by removing middlemen.

No takers

He said that there were no takers for the model rythu bazaar at the weekly market as the farmers were selling away their produce to the wholesale merchants and returning to their fields.

He stressed the need for the revival of the model rythu bazaar for the benefit of consumers.

He also said that they were examining opening another rythu bazaar at Adarshnagar in Karimnagar town.
