The fare is Rs.381 for adults and Rs.200 for children
VISAKHAPATNAM: A new RTC service between Visakhapatnam and Srisailam, introduced as part of its programme to connect important pilgrim centres, was flagged off by the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna, in the presence of Housing Minister, Botsa Satyanarayana, at the Dwarakanagar Bus Station Complex on Saturday.
This Super Luxury service will leave Visakhapatnam by 5.30 p.m. every day and reach Srisailam by 7.30 a.m. the next day. In return journey, it will leave Srisailam by 5.30 p.m. and reach Visakhapatnam by 7.30 a.m. the next day.
According to the Regional Manager G. Maheswara, the service would touch Vijayawada and Dornal and the fare to Srisailam would be Rs.381 (Rs.200 for children). Timings of the service are tentative and could be changed for the convenience of the passengers. ZP chairman G. Ramamurthy Naidu, Mayor P. Janardana Rao, MLAs S.Ranaga Raju, K. Dharma Sree, P. Mangapathi Rao, Gandi Babji were present.
Speaking to media persons later, Mr. Maheswara said that keeping in mind the requirements of the city in the coming ten years, proposals were made for introduction of as many as 2043 Metro Services. This would be done in coordination with the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, which is being executed in the city.
He said that at present there are 600 Metro Services in the city and as a response to the public demand, 40 additional services are proposed to be introduced. New buses like the low floor AC vestibule variety are also proposed to be introduced in the city.
Responding to questions, he said that 15 inter-State services, mostly to the neighbouring Orissa State, are also proposed to be introduced soon. Important towns in Orissa like Jeypore, Koraput, Navarangpur, Bhavanipatna and Parlakimundi would be covered. Divisional Manager, Veerayya Choudary was present.
