HYDERABAD: BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar has dubbed the Congress manifesto as a “pack of lies” containing false claims. He accused the party of betraying the common man, farmers, youth, women and people of Telangana in the last five years.
At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said prices had gone up every time the Congress came to power. People were reeling under high prices although inflation was zero per cent. Millions of fertile hectares of land were taken over for SEZs at nominal rates, while the loan waiver scheme had not benefited 80 per cent of farmers. Referring to the slogan of ‘Congress ka haath aam aadmi ke saath’, he said ‘aam aadmi ke saath, Congress ka vishwasghaath’. While one crore jobs were promised, jobless youth numbered 1.5 crore. He said women were betrayed on the promise of 33 per cent reservation in legislatures. The country stood betrayed in tackling terrorism.
Replying to a question, he said Varun Gandhi was the party candidate for the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat. He accused the Election Commission of adopting varying yardsticks while dealing with different people on the violation of poll code. Hitting out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his remarks against former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, he said the electoral battle was between a ‘majboor neta’ and a ‘mazboot neta’.
