Aspirants in fix with some names not announced

VIZIANAGARAM: As two or more names of ticket aspirants have come up in each constituency except Vizianagaram, Nellimarla and Cheepurupalli, Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly kept the names in abeyance for assembly constituencies Parvathipuram (SC), Salur (ST), Gajapathinagaram, S.Kota and Bobbili.

The Kurupam (ST) constituency is likely to be left to the CPI (M) under seat-sharing agreement with that party.

TDP officially announced the names of P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Vizianagaram parliamentary constituency), P. Narayanaswamy Naidu (Nellimarla) and Gadde Babu Rao (Cheepurupalli) on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the decision to withhold the names in the first list had placed the aspirants in dilemma.

In Gajapathinagram constituency, Padala Aruna, sitting MLA, is facing resistance from party cadres who sent SMS to Mr. Naidu to field the party district president Yedla Ramana Murty. Similarly, in S. Kota, Sobha Hymavathi, former MLA, Lagudu Simhadri, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson and Kolla Ram Prasad, son of Kolla Appala Naidu, former MLA are in race. Here, caste factor has become a major issue.

In Bobbili, Tentu Lakshmi Naidu, sitting MLA from Therlam and S.V.Ch. Appala Naidu, former MLA are in race, while in Salur (ST), D.V.G. Sankara Rao, former MP, had been the lone candidate for the seat, but R.P. Banj Deo, former MLA from the constituency proposed Manchala Venkataramana’s to Mr. Naidu. The CPI, the grand alliance partner, has also been demanding the seat. In Parvathipuram (SC), Bobbili Chiranjeevulu and Garbhapu Udaya Bhanu are in race.
