HYDERABAD: Discom officials are after all, having it their way. After power cuts in fringe localities of the city, they extended the same to the industry. Now is the turn of the “core of the city” to experience power cuts, despite the promises from the authorities to exempt the Metro Zone from load reliefs.
Different areas in the city are experiencing regular, yet unofficial power cuts ranging from one to two hours a day. They include upmarket localities such as Banjara Hills, RTC Cross Roads, Begumpet, Tarnaka and many areas .
“We are having daily power cut for two hours, though the timings differ from day-to-day. I stay in a one-room tenement and with these shutdowns I’m unable to bear the heat,” says P. Aditya Dev, a student of animation who stays at Begumpet.
Load reliefs for the city began only recently and are being implemented phase-wise across a large number of feeders. “We are having power cuts ranging from one to two hours per day. Promises towards continuous supply lasted only for a short while. I am only worried about future months when the situation could become grimmer,” says K. Manjula, a home-maker who stays near Indira Park.
Sources from CPDCL confirmed that load reliefs to the extent of 100 to 150 MW were being imposed in city. .
