Kakinada: The CITU has strongly objected to the policy of exempting the SEZ from the existing Labour Laws and vowed to fight for justice to the workers.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, A.V. Nageswerarao, State general secretary, P. S. Prakash, district president and Duvva Seshu Babji, district secretary, respectively of the CITU, said they would not allow the injustice meted out to the workers in the name of encouraging export-oriented industries.

On the acquisition of land for the proposed SEZ in the district, they demanded proper package for the displaced farmers or else the Government will face a severe resistance from the public and the agricultural labourers. Another sector now where no labour law is getting applied, they said, was the Information technology where employees were forced to work without any time limit.

They vowed to ensure justice to them.
