Speed-breakers painted at various places

HYDERABAD: Members of Dr. MCR Two-wheeler Riders' Association launched a novel protest against the implementation of the helmet rule in the twin cities by painting speed-breakers in the city on Sunday.

Association members painted the speed-breakers with zebra marks at different places starting from Bazarghat crossroads. They conducted a signature campaign which received a good response with 320 persons signing in support of the campaign in less than two hours.

The signature campaign will continue and a memorandum containing will be submitted to the Chief Minister at the end of this month. The association has taken out this campaign to point out that the traffic police and civic authorities shouldf first ensure safety on roads by maintaining speed breakers and zebra crossings before levying penalties on two-wheeler riders,, a press release.issued by the association convenor Mohd. Traffic curbs tomorrow

Traffic on certain routes in the city will be restricted in connection with the visit of the Dalai Lama on January 17.

11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.:Airport to Hotel Taj Krishna - Traffic will be stopped or diverted at the airport, PNT, Rahul Point, Allauddin Building, HPS out gate, HPS in gate, Begumpet flyover, Greenlands, Hotel ITC Kakatiya, Rajiv Gandhi statue, Punjagutta crossroads, D.P Colony, Road No.7 junction and Hotel Taj Krishna.

3.45 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.:

Traffic on the same route in the return direction will be stopped or diverted during this time.
