Nellore: Minister for Primary Education N. Rajyalakshmi has informed that under the Integrated Co-operative Development Programme (ICDP), the district has been allotted Rs. 17 crores under the first phase. It will enable 20 farmer co-operative credit societies to have integrated complexes with storage, godown and marketing facilities.
Addressing a gathering at Venkatagiri town of Nellore district on Saturday, after announcing the coming up of such a complex in the area at a cost of Rs. 4.80 lakhs, the Minister said that out of the sanctioned Rs. 17 crores, half the amount would be released in the first phase and the remaining in the second phase, ultimately paving the way for construction of 40 integrated co-operative complexes in the district.
The Minister said the facility would go a long way in strengthening the existing network for farmers, who often faced problems in selling their produce due to lack of godowns and other types of basic infrastructure. Revenue Divisional Officer of Gudur K. Subramanyam Reddy, DSP Devadanam and other officials were present.
