VIJAYAWADA: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is behaving like the TRS, trying to provoke regional feelings on the Pothireddypadu issue, according to State secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) K. Narayana. TDP men in Rayalaseema are demanding that the capacity of the Pothireddypadu head-regulator be increased. But senior TDP leaders are taking out padayatra in Krishna delta opposing the proposal. "They are behaving like coastal Telugu Desam Party," he says.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Dr Narayana said there was a sea change in the irrigation projects scenario since Pothireddypadu head-regulator was constructed. Srisailam, Somasila, Kandaleru, Gandikota and Galeru-Nagari had not been completed when the regulator was constructed. The capacity of the regulator had to be increased to balance the distribution of water between the regions, he said.
Dr Narayana said that it was not proper for responsible leaders like Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and Devender Gowd to participate in programmes that would provoke regional feelings.
