HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Wednesday directed the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) not to announce results of Group I main examination or take any such further steps regarding recruitment to these posts.

The Bench, comprising Justice J. Chalameswar and Justice M.E.N. Patrudu, was passing this order in writ petitions field by aspirants for of Group I posts. The original applications filed by these persons before the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal, however, were dismissed.

The contention of these aspirants is that there are additional vacancies in Group-I category as on the date of supplementary notification and the cut-off mark in the preliminary examination need not have to be 66 marks.

The Bench posted the mater to February 20, and directed the Government to submit the list of additional vacancies in the direct recruitment quota as on August 2004. The petitioners had complained that instead of filling the vacancies through direct recruitment, the Government was resorting to promotions.
