Women's 'varsities meet in Tirupati concludes
TIRUPATI: The three-day international conference of the Women's Universities concluded on Friday with an agenda to mutually address all their problems through a consortium.
The meet discussed in detail all the major issues concerning the women universities and women's higher education as a whole in the changing national and international scenario.
Participating as the chief guest at the valedictory, Asithosh Mishra, Principal Secretary, Higher Education lamented that the education at all levels were not reflecting the ground realities . The solution to the problem lay in reorienting the curriculum and make it suit the emerging changes in the socio-economic and political spectrum, Mishra said. Director of Collegiate Education K. Lakshminarayana said that teachers still had a distinct and tailor-made role to play in imparting education and dissemination of knowledge notwithstanding the tremendous inroads made into the field by Information Technology. Vice-Chancellor of SPMVV Veena Noble Das reviewed the three-day proceedings and said the meet focussed on women empowerment through curriculum development, increased assistance from the government and networking of all the universities for formulating a common road-map.
