Tirumala: Tirupati Municipal councillor Naveen Kumar Reddy on Friday urged the TTD management to improve security along the Sri Vari Mettu leading to Tirumala.

Participating in the Dial TTD E.O. programme, Mr. Reddy said that the footway is being neglected and many devotees from the nearby villages of Tirupati and Chandragiri use it and this is what has prompted him to take up the issue to the notice of the management.

He also urged the TTD to promote a sub-way or a flyover between the TTDs Srinivasam complex being built at a cost of Rs.36 crores and the nearby APSRTC bus stand for the convenience of the visiting devotees.

Poornachandra Rao, Hyderabad, urged the management to extend privilege to the devotees who had booked for Kalyanotsavams in advance.

With ample tickets being issued under the current booking across the bank counters, the devotees who have booked their tickets in advance are being subjected to inconvenience during the ritual.

TTD Executive Officer A.P.V. Narayana Sarma who anchored the programme said that he would consider the suggestion.

In reply to a question, Sarma said that steps are under progress to conduct the Chakrasnanam at Sri Rama temple's pushkarini this year during the annual Brahmotsavams and said that with a noble intention to spread the message of Lord Venkateswara and to create spiritual awareness among the public, the TTD has taken up the task of conducting Kalyanotsavams at different villages in other States spending several lakhs of rupees for every programme.

In reply to another question, Mr. Sarma assured that steps will be initiated to promote the importance of the Holy Thumburu Theertham mukkoti that falls on March 14 of this month.
