It is for the people to file applications and get their names included/excludedCollector verifies alleged defective voter lists in Salasa

HYDERABAD: The State Election Commission (SEC) has said that it cannot by itself either include or delete names from electoral rolls.

Its secretary G.M. Ramesh Kumar, in a press release issued here on Friday, made it clear that it was for the people to file applications and get their names included/excluded in the Assembly electoral rolls.

He said the commission had ordered publication of rolls on May 8 itself, leaving ample time for the public and political parties to see that applications were filed in time for inclusions and deletions.

Referring to media reports on voter lists being defective in Salasa village in Yedlapadu mandal (Guntur district), he said the SEC had got the issue thoroughly enquired into by the Collector.
