Chief Minister to take part in various programmes

TIRUPATI: Chittoor district is set for hectic political activity in the next few days with the visit of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Chief Minister is visiting the district on Sunday while Mr. Naidu is expected to tour the district for two days on May 10 and 11.

A busy schedule awaits the Chief Minister as he lands in his chopper at Kalikiri around 2.30 p.m. Significantly Kalikiri is the only place Dr. Reddy is visiting outside Tirupati-Tirumala during his two-day visit to the district. He will inaugurate more than half a dozen new facilities in the town.

The Chief Minister will unveil the statue of former Municipal Chairperson P.S. Gurava Reddy at Tirupati before proceeding to Tirumala for overnight stay. He is expected to participate in the ongoing `Padmavathi parinayothsavam' and to hold a review meeting with district officials.

Dr. Reddy is also expected to give the `clap' to launch Hindi mega serial `Jai Balaji' -- a joint venture by the TTD and the Doordarshan.

The Chief Minister will round off his visit to Tirumala on Monday morning possibly with a second visit to the hill temple before his departure around 8 a.m.

Naidu's review meet

Meanwhile the TDP president is expected to hold talks with his party functionaries at Tirupati on May 10-11 for a constituency-wise review of the political situation in the wake of the ensuing local body elections.
