HYDERABAD: In a pioneering move, the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has decided to introduce innovative five-year integrated courses in six universities of the State from this academic year. Four courses in sciences stream, one in social sciences and another in the languages stream will be offered.
The decision was taken at the Vice-Chancellors' meeting convened by the APSCHE here on Saturday.
"We will identify the exact composition of the courses within a week," APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy, who chaired the meeting, said here. The integrated course for students on completion of intermediate education, would lead to conferring of a double-degree.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to give the go-ahead for the ambitious 21st century Gurukulam concept. "These will be set up in six universities," he said.
