HYDERABAD: Print media journalists boycotted a press conference convened by film actor and Talli Telangana Party president Vijayashanti protesting against the alleged misbehaviour by her office staff.

A number of print and electronic media journalists, who went to the Jubilee Hills office of the party on Thursday evening, were made to wait for over 90 minutes for the press conference to commence.

In between, the office staff continued to assure the media personnel that Ms. Vijayashanti would come anytime.

A person claiming to be the media in-charge arrived and played a video CD showing Ms. Vijayashanti talking about injustice meted out to Telangana and the sufferings of the people of the region. When journalists requested the person to ask Ms. Vijayashanti to come and address the media, he reportedly questioned a reporter as to why he was creating a problem.

Irked by the behaviour of the office staff, print media journalists walked out even as Ms. Vijayashanti was entering the office.

Welcomes KCR statement

In a press release later, Ms. Vijayashanti said that she would take up chaitanya yatras in 450 mandals in a phased manner across Telangana from November 1.

Ms. Vijayashanti said she welcomed the TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao's statement fixing August 15 as the deadline for the Congress to spell out its stand on Telangana.
