HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Wednesday directed the Head of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to furnish a list of protected monuments and the reasons for declaring them as important historical monuments to be protected, along with a sworn affidavit.

The Bench was taking exception to the contention of the authorities that structures and precincts, which witness "historical events" will be declared as protected monuments.

The Bench felt that these guidelines are subjective in nature.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition wherein Vasantha Shobha sought a direction to declare the Koti Residency building as a protected monument.
