He was returning to Kodangal after meeting some Congress workers who joined TDP recently

MAHABUBNAGAR: Three persons sustained bullet injuries and the condition of one among them is said be critical when the gunmen of Yenumula Revanth Reddy MLC and Telugu Desam candidate for Kodangal Assembly segment opened fire on Wednesday at Hasnabad bus stop when supporters of his rival Congress candidate Gurunath Reddy attacked his vehicle in which he was travelling.

Mala Raju (24), who was seriously injured, was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad where is undergoing treatment and remaining two injured -- Dabba Ashnna (50), Chinnaiah (45) --were admitted to a local hospital at Kodangal. According to information reaching here, about 15 Congress workers in Hasnabad village -- 6 km away from constituency headquarters Kodangal and stated to be stronghold of Congress -- joined Telugu Desam on Tuesday.

Following this on Tuesday night some unidentified persons pelted stones on the houses of those who joined the TDP. On knowing this, Revanth Reddy who was camping at Kosgi, rushed to Hasnabad . Later, when Revanth Reddy and his followers were returning to Kosgi in their vehicles, a mob of over 150 members, said to be followers of ZP vice–chairman Krishna and close associate of Gurunath Reddy, attacked the vehicles with sticks and stones.

They damaged his vehicle and Mr. Revanth Reddy also sustained injury in his left shoulder following which his gunmen opened fire to disperse the mob. It is said that they fired 30 rounds in the air and the panicked mob ran away from the spot but three persons sustained bullet injuries.

Condemning the attack, Mr. Revanth Reddy and his supporters staged a dharna on the road for about an hour.
