`Kreeda Jyothi' reaches Nizamabad district

NIZAMABAD: Minister for Rural Development D. Srinivas has said that the State Government is giving importance to sports and games with sufficient budgetary allocations.

Sending off the `Kreeda Jyothi' of Chief Minister's Cup (Torch Run-2006) at the Sports Authority grounds here on Monday, he said all those who were under 19 years of age were eligible to take part in the tournament.

Sports and games would improve health and intelligence, he said.

A four-day tournament of different sports will be conducted after the Kreeda jyothi reaches Hyderabad on September 29.

The `jyothi', which arrived here on Monday via Pochampad, Balkonda, Perkit, Armoor, Ankapur and Dasnagar will reach Hyderabad through Dichpally, Indalwai, Sadasivnagar, Kamareddy, Domakonda and Biknoor in the district.
