HYDERABAD: Karunya, Hema Chandra and Himabindu, the young singing talents of the city already making a mark in the field of playback singing and on-stage concerts will once again be performing live at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Public Gardens, on September 20.
The occasion `Sreemitra Sangamam' is the release of two books on Carnatic classical music - `Janaka Raga Varna Manjari' and `Ghana Raga Varna Panchakam' written and composed by their uncle and `guru' N.C. Murthy.
The trio singing movie songs as well as classical music will be the most interesting part of the programme. There will also be a light music concert by Sasikala Swamy, Suvarna, Harini and others.
Mr. Murthy, though a chemical engineer by profession is a trained classical singer and has totally dedicated himself to the cause of Carnatic music. The two books contain details of the `varnas' to 72 `melakarta' ragas of Carnatic music and anyone studying them can easily sing formatted music, he told presspersons on Saturday.
He had also composed and written various light music songs in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada languages. Sri Sivananda Murthy will unveil the books, said to be unique in Carnatic music, under the aegis of Ajanta Arts Academy.
Noted poet C. Narayana Reddy will be the chief guest of the evening. Renowned Carnatic artiste Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana will be the guest of honour and receive the first copies of the books.
