Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in Rs.per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Monday, according to Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Groundnut oil - 57.50, palmolein oil- 46, sunflower oil - 54.50, tamarind (flower variety) - 28 to 31, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 43 to 49, chillies- (new) 49 to 54, rice (2716)-14, rice (super fine)-15, rice (sona masoori)-18 to 19, rice (samba masoori)- 16, black gram-53.90 and red gram-26 to 32.50.

MP conveys condolence

Local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has conveyed his condolences to the family members of Koneru Nagasri, who was found dead near Kankipadu on Monday. Mr. Rajagopal spoke to Intelligence IG Aravinda Rao and city police commissioner Umesh Sharraf. He said those responsible for the death of Nagasri should be punished severely.

Drainage works inaugurated

The 17th division corporator Maganti Narasimha Chowdary inaugurated works on laying an open drain at a cost of Rs. 14 lakh at Sri Bodhanandasrama Street behind Montessori Mahila Kalasala. He said attempts to move 40 families from the area had been withdrawn and they would be shifted only after houses were constructed and allotted for them in Vambay Colony.
