The accused person blackmails poor girl students by retaining their original certificates

ADILABAD: The Adilabad II town police on Sunday arrested Sayini Srinivas, correspondent of Laxmi Paramedical Institute, Adilabad, who is facing charges under the SC/ST Atrocities Act for allegedly sexually exploiting students.

Two students of the institute had lodged a complaint accusing the correspondent of grave crimes against them. On Monday the accused person was produced at a press conference by Superintendent of Police Kripanand Tripathi Ujela, Utnoor DSP A. Shesh Rao and P. Sambaiah, II Town Sun-Inspector. They said the accused person blackmailed poor girl students by retaining their original certificates despite the victims passing out as far back as 2003-2004.

Institute raided

A raid on the institute premises yielded 120 such certificates besides, five certificates of the diploma offered by the institute. The police also found the teaching and living conditions at the institute pathetic.

Mr. Ujela said the first complainant from Shetpally in Kotapally was taken to Hyderabad by the accused person who originally hailed from Jagityal in Karimnagar. The intention was to exploit her sexually on the pretext of getting her a seat in higher education institute.

In the case of the second complainant, also belonging to Scheduled Castes as the first complainant, Srinivas promised to marry her though he was married. Her certificates were not given back even after she passed out last year.

Srinivas also stands accused of collecting money from SC, ST students even while the respective corporations reimbursed the fee and gave stipends to the students.
